Chapter 3

Mid afternoon the next day Jimmy was handed an envelope from his sister. He opened it to read: At 1am tonight you are to sneak out of the house. You are to be wearing a pair of white briefs only. You are to go straight to the South Downs Park playground. There you will go to one of the spring mounted animals – take off your briefs – place them on the handle of the animal – then leave – naked. You then must take Spring street all the way to Middle Mead Park playground. You should find there the briefs, which are to be left for you by Cole. You may put them on it you like, and then come home. If you cheat, you will be sorry. Thersa has marked your briefs, so we will know. Wear the briefs located under your pillow.

Jimmy checked under his pillow. There was a pair of briefs he used 2 years ago. They were too small for him, he knew. There was a stapled piece of construction paper on them. He'd never be able to fake this dare.

Cole had no doubt been delivered a similar note. Jimmy thought this couldn't be too bad. The only traffic will be the security patrol, and he could see them coming he thought.

Jimmy set his alarm for 1am and set the volume where it would not alarm his parents. The doors to the house were alarm set. He'd have to sneak out an upstairs' window and climb down somehow. He'd use the kid's den window, as his room's window dropped straight down two floors. He went to bed in the briefs to be ready.

When the alarm woke him, he crept to the kids den, opened the window to the porch roof. He made his way to the trellis and climbed down. It felt weird in bare feet and nearly nude. He was able to make his way towards the park without event. His heart was racing. To pass all the houses in underwear! The neighborhood had many decorative lights, and if anyone was up and looked out, he was very noticeable.

The gate to the park creaked way too loud for his comfort. He went to the spring animals. For the first time in his life, he was soon naked, outside and a few blocks from home. Could he really go several more blocks absolutely naked.

As he left by the other gate, he sensed headlights passing him. He saw the security patrol, and feared they saw him. They seemed to be increasing speed to make a turn back towards he park. He raced down a side street to head to the other park. He was able to get back on track to spring street. He hoped to pass Cole and warn him of the security car. But he never saw him. He figured Cole had passed him when he had to circle a side block to avoid the patrol.

The patrol car had seen something and swung around back to the park. The officers got out and used flashlights to search the park. They thought they had seen a naked kid, but figured it may have been a large dog. However they were amused to find a small boy's underwear on a spring animal. They took them and tossed them in a trash barrel.

Jimmy found a pair of brief at the other park. It felt yucky to put them on, but it was better than being naked. He headed home.

Cole had a hard time waking. He managed to sneak out a downstairs door. His dad came home late, and did not remember to reset the alarm. He was able to deposit his undies and head to South Downs. He also thought he'd pass Jimmy, but he and Jimmy didn't know they had been given different routes.

At the other park he searched, but found no underwear on the spring animals. He was nervous searching the park while naked. He figured Jimmy was delayed, so he lay down near a hedge to wait. But when he laid his head down he fell asleep.

When Jimmy got home, he struggled up the trellis, but the den window was shut and locked. He recovered from his panic and realized Theresa had a window on the porch roof side. He knocked lightly. An angry Theresa looked out and sneered. He whispered 'let me in". She refused. "Please". "It will cost you". "Theresa!!"

She opened the window a crack, and said, "Hand over your briefs". He had to comply. She examined them. "Well you did get that part correct." She opened her window for him. He carefully scrambled in, being careful to keep covered. She refused to give him the undies, so he made another naked trip to his bedroom. He jumped in bed and fell fast asleep.

Cole woke in the early dawn as the paper delivery car sped by. It took him a bit to realize it was becoming light, and he was outside bare naked. Watchful for traffic he raced the several blocks home starkers. He hid behind bushes and poles every now and then as he knew someone would be out and about. He saw three ladies jogging, but they were not facing him. He goats home before his family was up, and went straight to bed.

Jimmy's mom opened his door and shouted get up sleepy head. He was resting so hard she didn't press the issue.

An hour later she went in to wake him, but he did not stir. Well, she did what all mom's do, she pulled of his covers, He still slept on, but there was Jimmy displayed fully nude, sleeping on his stomach. She pulled the covers on off the bed but saw no sleepwear. "Dos he sleep naked now?" She saw no clothes on the floor. She decided not to wake him, but left his door wide open.

An hour later Jimmy woke up. Now on his back, he took a minute to realize his covers were on the floor, and his door opened. He dashed to his closet and dressed. When he went in for breakfast, his Mom looked at him funny, but made no comments. He was too scared to ask her if she had taken down the covers. Gosh, had she seen him? The last time he knew she saw him naked, he was 8, and he protested that time.

Would this nightmare end?
