Part Six
Samuel Oliver was in a very odd
predicament. He reclined on the floor of his grandmother’s parlor, his
vulnerable, unclothed body illuminated by the glow of the Christmas tree. Propped
up on one elbow with his long curly blond hair cascading down his bare
shoulders, he pondered the amazing pile of gaily decorated gifts. Some were
quite small, others rather large. Being a normal child on a not so normal
Christmas morning, he’d checked them all; each and every one had his name on
the tag. He felt more than a little self-conscious in the weirdness of his
situation, but he dismissed it as best he could, which was to say not at all. It
was like being trapped in some strange surreal dream, surrounded by the lights
and the sounds and the smells of the holiday, mixed with the fear and anxiety
of being completely naked.
Lying on the floor in his birthday suit on
Christmas morning was an awkward position to be sure, but he had no other
option; after a fierce spanking at the hands of his archnemesis, the dreaded
Mrs. Tully, his poor aching bottom couldn’t tolerate any form of sitting. The
good news was that other than the bosomy babysitter seated on the sofa there
wasn’t anybody else around to see him. Besides, it certainly wouldn’t be the
first time he’d run around his grandmother’s house in his birthday suit with a
sore butt!
Hey, maybe there’s something in these
packages for me to wear, he wished silently. Maybe my dad sent me a pair of
jeans or my mom gave me some pajamas or something. Anything would be better
than my bare butt hanging out like this!
He glanced over to see Mrs. Tully watching
him from across the room, a cup of warm cider within easy reach. A gaudy vision
of red and white in her “Mrs. Santa Claus” dress, she beamed with Christmas
delight as she encouraged her young charge to get started.
“Go ahead, baby doll. Open the ones from
your daddy first. Then your mommy’s. You can open the ones from me last.”
The blushing boy nodded. He was so excited
he could hardly contain his glee as he reached over for the first present with
shaking hands. The hope of some sense of normalcy was in his grasp and he was
eager to grab hold of it and never let go!
“Gently, baby doll. Gently. Unwrap your
gifts with care not to tear the paper. We can use it again next year.”
The frustrated child sighed and did as he
was told. His task was hindered by the extreme amount of tape that covered the
seams; lying on his side in the nude didn’t make things any easier, either. What
should have taken him seconds was now an ordeal that seemed to last forever.
Why me, he lamented as he struggled with
his task.
At long last the last right of tape gave
way and the wrapping was off the first present. It was better than he hoped! Just
as he’d suspected, that first package indeed contained a GI Joe. The Navy Seal
one with the scuba tank and everything! A second, even larger present contained
the life raft and weapons collection, including a fifty caliber sniper rifle! Just
like he’d been wanting and begging for the past year!
“Oh, wow! I can’t believe it!” the excited
lad shouted in delight. He was so thrilled with his gift he forgot his sore
bottom and sat up in order to show it off to his babysitter. “Look, Nana, at
what my dad got me! Isn’t it cool?”
“Goodness, such awful things for a little
boy to play with. I don’t know why you would want terrible toys. My little baby
doll could get hurt playing with dangerous things like that.”
Samuel looked at his grandmother like she
was crazy. He wanted to yell at her and tell her to mind her own business. His
aching bottom suddenly reminded him that he might be better served with a more
cautious approach. He resumed his reclining position in order to relief the
surge of pain that now besieged him.
Determined to make his point, the
frustrated lad took a deep breath, smiled and said, “It’s not real, Nana. See? It’s
just toys. They’re not actually dangerous or anything.”
Mrs. Tully smiled. “You really like those
things, don’t you baby doll? Do they make you happy? Hmm? Hmmm?”
Samuel nodded emphatically. “I sure do! These
are the best! I want to be in the army when I grow up, just like my dad. I love
this kind of stuff! Isn’t it neat?”
The fat woman raised a skeptical eyebrow. “I’m
sorry, baby doll, but I just think those awful toys are too dangerous. They
give little boys ideas, bad ideas that lead to bad things. Nana’s little angel
is too fragile to play with such things.”
The naked boy nodded, then dropped the
subject. He wanted to argue, but he knew from bitter experience he couldn’t win
against his adopted grandmother. Instead, he put aside his new toys – casually
setting them out of the old woman’s line of sight – and continued opening his
other presents.
The next few packages were equally exciting
in the young boy’s mind – in addition to a set of accessories for his new GI
Joe, he got a remote control army tank and a battlefield play set. The best and
largest present of all turned out to be an authentic plastic replica of a real
live army rifle!
“WOW!” he exclaimed as he fondled the
finely checkered grip and fiddled with the many buttons and levers that
operated the various functions. “This is better than it looked on television!”
“What a horrible weapon!” Mrs. Tully
fussed. “I can’t believe they let little children have such things. We’re going
to have to talk to your mother about this, young man.”
Samuel started to reply with a bit of
defiance, but he bit his tongue. Better to keep quiet and safe than make his
captor mad, he thought.
If I’m not careful she might take all this
cool stuff away from me, he said to himself. I sure don’t want that to happen!
After putting his prized possessions away
under a pile of discarded wrapping paper, the eager child moved his attention
to some of the less interesting packages. A couple looked suspiciously like
they might be clothes. While that normally would have been disappointing to the
twelve year old, that was most certainly not the case today! He ripped into
them with gusto and almost yelled when he saw that he’d been given a pair of
camouflaged pants and a t-shirt with the “Army” logo!
“Wow! Neat!’ Samuel Oliver looked
pleadingly at his grandmother. He thought for a moment, swallowed, then spoke
carefully.
“Can … Nana … can I try them on? Please?”
The old woman nodded. “Of course, baby
doll. They’re your presents. Don’t let me stop you.”
Samuel’s hands shook, he was so excited. And
relieved. Here he thought he’d be spending all of Christmas day in his birthday
suit. Of course he wouldn’t. That would be silly. Thanks to his dad Christmas
day was saved!
The excited boy took a deep breath and
tried to calm down. The pants were his first choice, of course. Samuel felt a
little odd pulling them on without any underwear – his things were all locked
away upstairs where “they would be safe” until he was ready to go home. Nonetheless,
he jumped into the camouflaged army pants with desperation and joy. First one
leg, then the other. Now all he had to do was pull them up and he’d be a normal
– and fully dressed! – twelve year old boy again.
“Uh-oh.”
Mrs. Tully raised an eyebrow. “Why, what’s
the matter, angel?”
Samuel looked up at his grandmother, his
face crestfallen. “I think … I think they’re … too small.”
It was true. The youngster had the pants
pulled up as high as they would go, but they stopped at his thighs, barely
fitting past his knees. Panicked and tearful, he pulled and he tugged, but they
would go no further. He jumped up and down and he tried squeezing his chubby
legs into the rough military-style trousers, but it was to no avail.
“Nana, they don’t fit!” he cried. “They
don’t fit!”
Samuel’s eyes filled with tears as he
realized what this meant. He hadn’t worn a single stitch of clothing since
arriving in his grandmother’s house the day before. This was his one chance to
get to put something on to cover his bare butt. He didn’t want to spend
Christmas day naked.
A look of sincere concern formed on Mrs.
Tully’s face. The old woman held out her hand. “Come here, baby doll. Let Nana
take a look.”
The half-naked boy waddled over to his
grandmother. He felt so foolish standing before her with his bare bottom
hanging out like that. How could this be? How could he be so close to not being
naked, yet so far away? How could his father let him down like this?
“Please, Nana … is there anything you can
do?” Samuel whispered.
The old woman gave the trouser her
undivided attention. She did all the things Samuel did. She tugged at the
coarse material, she worked the zipper and she tried squeezing his bare legs
into the overly snug pant legs. The frustrated boy squirmed as her hands spent
an inordinate amount of time massaging his bare thighs and poking in between
his butt cheeks. He knew in his heart it was all in vain and he felt betrayed
by the one person he thought he could count on.
“I’m so sorry, baby doll. Here’s the problem.”
She reached under the waistband and showed him the clothing tag. “Your daddy
got you the wrong size. You’d think he’d know better. I guess he doesn’t know
his little baby doll like your Nana does. Oh, well. He’ll just have to take
them back. There’s nothing else to do.”
Samuel thought about leaving on his new
army trousers, but that would have been stupid. They barely reached past his
knees and he just looked stupid with his bare butt and penis hanging out like
that. Plus, the longer he wore them the more they reminded him of how his
father obviously didn’t pay any attention to him, and that made him feel all
that much more disappointed. It was one of the most devastating moments in the
tearful boy’s young life.
Reluctantly, sadly, Samuel stood helplessly
as Mrs. Tully helped him out of the ridiculous garment. He never felt so
foolish, nor so disappointed as when she pulled the rough trousers down his
legs. The demoralized lad tried not to cry as she folded them up neatly and
handed them back to him. Not knowing what else to do with them, he put them
next to his other presents. He blinked back the tears as warm, grandmotherly
fingers tickled his chin and pulled his face upward.
“Don’t look so down, angel,” the smirking
woman cooed. “I’m sure we’ll find something appropriate for you to wear. Just
be patient. You’ll see.”
Samuel’s eyes suddenly widened. “Hey, what
about the t-shirt! I bet it fits me just great!”
His heart raced as he literally leaped over
the pile of presents and grabbed the army t-shirt. It wasn’t a pair of pants,
but it was better than nothing. He could pull it down over his bare bottom. Surely
that would work ….
Samuel Oliver felt his stomach spin out of
control as he pulled the olive drab garment over his head and down his chest. He
wanted to cry. Like his new pants, his army t-shirt was way too small. The neck
hole was barely big enough for his head and his arms got caught as he struggled
to get them through the sleeves. In his zeal to get the stupid thing to fit, he
ended up entangled in a maze of stretched cotton, torn elastic and tears.
“Nana-a-a-a ….” the disillusioned boy
wailed. “I’m stuck! Please help meeeeee!!!”
“Come here, baby doll,” the Mrs. Tully said
with a sympathetic chuckle. “Let Nana get you loose before you strangle
yourself.”
Samuel sighed and stumbled toward his
grandmother. This was turning out to be the worst Christmas ever!
***
Irma Tully was having the time of her life.
Christmas Day was rarely this exciting, this much fun. Usually she would spend
holiday morning alone, opening a few presents from her friends and making a few
phone calls to her relatives. Later she would get with her friend Gertrude
Haggard and together the two old maids would travel down to the soup kitchen
where they would serve a holiday meal for the poor unfortunate souls who had
nowhere else to go. Afterward they would visit with some friends from church
and then have a quiet dinner together.
But today, well, today was a wonderful,
thrilling experience for the aging matron. It had been a very long time since
she had hosted a Christmas morning such as this. The sound of children in the
house was always a blessing, and having a young one all to herself for the
holidays was a present in itself. And especially when that youngster was in
need of her special love.
Oh, my goodness gracious, she thought with
a smile, what fun this is! Really, this is probably the most excitement I’ve
had on Christmas since … well, since I can remember!
The cruel babysitter’s face beamed with
delight as she watched young Samuel thrash about with the clothes sent to him
by his father. Little did the poor child know that the reason his new army
pants and t-shirt didn’t fit was that his mother had intentionally given his
father the wrong sizes. The clothes were at least two sizes too small, probably
more; there was no way for the unfortunate boy to get them on.
Poor little thing, the old woman thought as
she watched Samuel struggle in vain first with his new trousers, then his
t-shirt. The sweet angel looks so disappointed. She had to laugh. Poor little
thing, he didn’t have a clue. But that was all right. That’s where his loving Nana
comes in. Nana always made things all better!
“Nana-a-a-a …. I’m stuck! Please help
meeeeee!!!”
Irma Tully could barely contain her
amusement to see her chubby “grandson” trapped in his ill-fitting clothes. His
agony was evident in his voice and his eyes. She knew very well just how
desperate he was to regain some semblance of boyish dignity and maybe even a
little bit of independence.
“Poor little baby doll … he has no idea ….”
The old woman clasped her hands together
and suppressed a faint giggle as she watched Samuel jump up and down in
frustration. He struggled to get into his new clothes, his little penis
bouncing merrily and his chubby breasts jiggling about. He looked so sad and so
helpless … and so silly! To see all that hope and joy snatched away from her
pretty, precious little angel by something as simple as the wrong size pants
and too-small t-shirt, well, that was just delicious!
“Poor little baby doll ….”
The matron felt her bosom swell as the
heart-broken child approached her and asked for help. She made a grand,
deceptively sincere show out of trying to fit him into his new t-shirt and
trousers, but she had no intention of really helping him. Indeed, it was her
intent to make him as miserable as possible.
“I’m so sorry, baby doll,” she said with a
song in her voice, “but I guess you’ll just have to do without for now.”
Samuel wiped his eyes and nodded. “But I
wanted to get dressed,” he sobbed. “It’s not fair. I don’t want to spend
Christmas with no pants on!”
“I know, baby doll. I know ….”
A sense of real joy hit Irma Tully as she
helped the pitiful child out of the accursed shirt. She took her time, savoring
the experience, taking every opportunity to poke and caress and enjoy the warm
touch of his soft skin, the scent of his hair, the sound of his sad little
voice. She never felt more alive than when she was playing her silly little
games with her precious Samuel Oliver. She felt like a young girl again,
playing “dress up” with a favorite doll.
He really does look just like one of my old
dollies, she thought greedily as she rendered the mortified child to his
birthday suit. I just hope he doesn’t break as easily.
After smothering Samuel’s tearful face with
grandmotherly kisses, the old woman held him at arm’s length and looked him up
and down with shameless admiration. From that sweet curly blond hair and those
luscious Cupid’s bow lips to that adorable plump pink belly and those smooth
pale legs, he was a vision to behold. Holding her arms out wide, she watched
with a satisfied sneer as he involuntarily stepped into her embrace.
“There, there,” she whispered into the
sobbing child’s ear. She patted his bare bottom and gave his limp penis a
playful tickle. She then pushed him back for another long look.
“How is it that a precious little boy like
you can look so beautiful and at the same time be such a little brat?” she said
aloud.
Samuel shrugged his bare shoulders and
looked down toward the floor. Irma Tully rubbed her hands greedily together and
chuckled.
“Oh, well … no matter. I guess it’s up to
your mean old Nana to tame you into an obedient and loving child.”
Samuel Oliver nodded. “Yes, Nana,” he said
obediently. “Anything you say, Nana.”
The old woman sighed a sigh of well-deserved
self-satisfaction.
This is the best Christmas ever!
***
Freed from his olive drab straight jacket,
a naked Samuel endured another series of humiliating hugs and kisses from his
grandmother and resumed his humble position kneeling stark naked beneath the
Christmas tree. He tried to build up some enthusiasm as he sorted through his
remaining gifts, but it wasn’t easy. There were more clothes, including two
pairs of jeans, a really cool sweater and an authentic leather bomber jacket. Oh,
and don’t forget the packets of underwear! He pretty much had everything a boy
could want and most definitely everything he would ever need.
And none of it fit, of course. Not one
single thing.
The disappointed lad felt his nose tingle
as he stared at the pile of useless clothing. His eyes suddenly filled with
tears and he let out a sob of despair.
“It’s not fair, Nana. It’s not fair!” he
bawled. “It’s just not fair!!!”
“I know, baby doll,” the smiling woman
cooed. “I know. You’d think that man would at least get the sizes right. After
all, you are his only son, aren’t you? At least that we know of.”
Samuel nodded, the tears welling up again
and burning his eyes. He nodded his head and waited to be told what to do next.
“Oh, well, Christmas isn’t over yet, baby
doll. Look at all the other gifts there are for you to open. Why don’t you open
up something from your mommy. I’m certain she got you something nice.”
The naked boy’s heart skipped a beat as he
rummaged through the packages from his mother, looking desperately for anything
to cover his nudity.
“Can I open this?” he asked, holding up a
box that looked suspiciously like it might contain clothing. He noticed that,
unlike the others, it was much more nicely wrapped, as if a professional had
done it at a fancy shop at the mall.
The old woman nodded. Samuel tore into it,
eager to see if he would be given a reprieve from his humiliating situation.
He was shocked by what he found inside.
***
Marlene Miller was having a very nice,
albeit unspectacular holiday. To her chagrin she’d slept through the time she’d
customarily risen on Christmas morning. It wasn’t until her mother roused her
that she’d realized her faux pas.
Oh, well, the curly-haired girl thought
with a sigh. I’m not a little girl any more. It’s not like a real Santa left me
anything under the tree.
She took her time getting downstairs,
slipping into her robe and slippers, visiting the bathroom and finally
sauntering into the living room with a yawn. Her mother and Aunt Margaret were
already up, coffee cups in hand, sorting presents and chattering away as usual.
The taciturn twelve year old gave a grunt and disappeared into the kitchen to
help herself to a cup of coffee. As usual, she ignored her mother’s suggestion
that hot cocoa was more age appropriate.
“Oh, leave her alone,” snapped Aunt
Margaret. “Can’t you see that young woman is in need of her caffeine? She’s not
a child any longer.”
Mrs. Miller shook her head. “She is not a
woman yet, sister dear. She is and always will be my child”
Marlene paid little attention to the
conversation. She just didn’t feel like getting into it. Instead she just let
the morning take its natural course, going through the motions without much
thought at all.
Just another boring Christmas, she thought
as her mother and aunt headed for the living room. I already know what’s going
to happen next. That’s so sad. I wonder if it’ll always be this way for me…?
Per tradition, gifts were exchanged, as
were hugs, and the trio lounged about for a while, surrounded by their
acquisitions and trying to work up enough momentum to prepare the customary
Christmas Day meal. It just wasn’t as much fun as it used to be, not since her
father died. Marlene’s lack of enthusiasm was not unnoticed by the adults and
they did their best to liven things up.
“Who wants to help me in the kitchen?” Mrs.
Miller asked. “How about it, Marlene? Want to give your old mom a hand with
some baking?”
“I say why bother?” quipped Aunt Margaret. “Let’s
buck tradition and go eat Chinese! Less mess to clean up and we can spend the
rest of the day napping.”
Marlene’s mother took a deep breath and
sighed. “Really? Are you serious? Chinese take out … on Christmas? Honestly,
how do you live with yourself?”
“Very well, thank you.” The younger woman winked
at her niece and laughed. “What do you want to do, Marlene? Hours of hard work,
sweating and cussing in the kitchen? Or a quick drive down to the shopping
center, some tasty eggrolls and back home for an afternoon of naps and lazing
around the house?”
The young girl furrowed her brow and
thought for a moment. She really wanted to go back to bed. She was about to say
so when their conversation was interrupted by the ring of the phone.
“Who the hell could that be?” fussed Aunt
Margaret. “It better not be my boss. I’m not coming in, I don’t care what he
says!”
“Oh do shut up,” Mrs. Miller shot back. “And
watch your mouth, please. It’s Christmas morning, for Christ’s sake!”
Marlene couldn’t help but giggle behind her
cup of coffee. Sometimes adults said the silliest things.
She watched in idle curiosity as her mother
picked up the handset. Mrs. Miller listened for a moment and said, “Well, no,
not really. Oh, really. Really? Well, no, I had no idea. Yes, absolutely. No,
it sounds very interesting. It’s no trouble at all. We’re just … Yes, ten
minutes would be enough time. We’ll be expecting you. Oh, it’s no problem at
all. Thank YOU so much for calling! It will be lots of fun, I’m sure!”
If it wasn’t for the peculiar smile on her
mother’s face Marlene would have ignored the entire exchange.
“Who the heck was that?” the curious girl
asked.
“Oh, someone you like. And who likes you. A
lot.”
Marlene frowned. She glanced at her Aunt
Margaret and then back at her mother.
“Somebody who likes me. A lot?” The young
girl paused for an instant, pushed her glasses up her freckled nose and then
shrugged her shoulders. “Who the heck is that?”
Aunt Margaret echoed the youngster’s
question. “Yeah, who the heck is that?”
Mrs. Miller’s face glowed with mischievous
delight. “Our next door neighbor, Mrs. Tully.” She paused dramatically, then
giggled. “She’s invited herself over for a little Christmas cheer. It sounds
like she’s got company.”
Marlene’s eyes went wide with excitement. She’d
been so down and depressed about her boring Christmas, she’d completely
forgotten about Mrs. Tully and Samuel.
Idiot! She rolled her eyes as she gave
herself a mental scolding. I didn’t even look out the window to see if they’d
gotten up yet! There’s no telling what all I missed. How dumb can you get?
“Did she say what kind of company?” the
freckle faced girl carefully asked. “I mean, is it Mrs. Haggard? Or maybe
somebody else, maybe?”
Marlene’s mother shrugged. “She didn’t say
specifically. But I heard her fussing at somebody in a pretty firm voice. It
sure didn’t sound like she was talking to another adult.”
Marlene’s heart skipped a beat. With this
news the possibilities of the day suddenly became endlessly optimistic! She
glanced at her aunt. The look on Aunt Margaret’s face hilarious. Judging from
the wide eyes and open mouth, the older woman seemed to share her niece’s
enthusiasm.
“Do you mean … Did she say … do you think
Samuel is there?”
“Well, they’re coming over in about ten
minutes.” Mrs. Miller grinned. “I guess that’s when you’ll find out, huh?”
Marlene nodded. She tried not to show it,
but her Christmas had just taken a sudden turnaround.
Please, oh, please let it be so, she
thought to herself. Please, oh, please oh please … LET … IT … BE!!!
***
It only took the three females five minutes
to get ready. Each was equally motivated and eager to receive a visit from
their mysterious next door neighbor. The two older women were almost as excited
as their younger progeny, but not by much.
“This should be
interesting,” Mrs. Miller mused as she adjusted her skirt and fluffed her hair.
“After all this time we’ll finally get a close up view of Mrs. Tully’s cute
little grandson.”
“If we’re lucky maybe we’ll get a look at
his cute little tushie,” Aunt Margaret quipped. “That’s what I’m after!”
“I can’t believe you said that,” the older
sister said with a sniff. “You’re such a pervert!”
“Um-hmm. So what does that make you?”
The two sisters grinned at each other, then
burst out giggling, just as they’d done oh, so many times throughout the past
several months.
Marlene was already downstairs when the two
women arrived. They were taken aback by the youngster’s choice of attire. The
twelve year old’s typical holiday attire – Christmassy sweater, jeans and
sneakers – was completely absent. Instead of the traditional juvenile look her
elders expected, she showed up looking surprisingly mature in a crisp white
blouse, a pair of dress slacks and matching jacket. There was something else
about her … some different ….
“You put your hair up!” Aunt Margaret
exclaimed. “Marlene, you look … you look … very nice. Very nice, indeed!”
“I’ll say,” Mrs. Miller said. She felt a
tingle in her nose as she realized how grown up her daughter looked. “Are … are
you wearing make up?”
Marlene shrugged. “Just a little. A touch
of lipstick and some mascara. I’m old enough, so I figured why not?”
The two women looked at each other. Aunt
Margaret nodded. “Well, it makes you look very grown up. It really shows in
your eyes. Goodness, girl, I’d have thought you were at least sixteen if I
hadn’t known who you were.” She grinned and nudged her sister. “Who are you
trying to impress, anyway? Not that old woman next door, I bet!”
A flush of color filled the youngster’s
cheeks, but she took the comment with stride. “I just thought I’d try to look
nice. It is Christmas Day, after all, isn’t it? And we are having company,
aren’t we?”
Before either of the two adults could say
anything the doorbell rang.
“We really ought to get going,” the
woman-child suggested. She gave a little grin, as if she knew something they
didn’t. “It’s rude to keep Mrs. Tully and her little helper waiting, don’t you
think?”
Taken aback by the twelve year old girl’s
sudden change in attitude, the two sisters grinned at each other and nodded in
unison.
“Yes, ma’am,” replied Mrs. Miller. “Anything
you say, daughter dear ….”
To be continued ….
(The End)
