Pearl’s Magic

(Pearl discovers magical powers that will lead to many of her classmates losing their clothes. A light-hearted fable about the power of imagination.)

Once upon a time in the faraway kingdom of Callowstan, a girl named Pearl lived with her parents in the tiny village of Puery. She possessed magical powers, which she discovered by accident when she was six years old.

A boy named Danny pulled on one of her pigtails while she was standing in line to buy an ice cream cone near Immature Beach. As he ran away, Pearl wished that he would get a good spanking.

Sure enough, when she returned to her place on her parents’ blanket, she saw Danny getting a spanking on the bare. She smiled to herself and continued eating her ice cream. She thought it would be funny to have Danny run around naked.

By the time she turned her head, Danny was standing there completely nude crying to his mother. She started to laugh, joining with several other kids and some adults who were watching the scene unfold.

Pearl went looking for best friend Betsy, who was also on the beach. She spotted Betsy wading in the Immature Ocean up to her knees. She ran over and beckoned her to come in.

“Betsy, did you see Danny naked?”

“No, where did this happen?”

Pearl pointed behind her but then saw there was no Danny, and no sign of his mother. She turned back to Betsy, trying to tell her what she had done, but nothing would come out of her mouth. She just stuttered.

“What’s wrong Pearl? Are you OK?”

“Yeah, I’m fine, I was just trying to … to … to …” Pearl couldn’t get the words out and when she decided to drop the whole thing, she was back to normal.

“Tell me about Danny, please,” asked Betsy.

“You know, I think I was just dreaming,” said Pearl. “Let’s go swimming!”

Over the next few days, Pearl learned about her new powers. First, she could never tell anyone about her magic. Second, she could not use her magic on herself. For example, she could think ‘I wish I could find 50 cents,” but it would not happen. But if she wished that Betsy found 50 cents, that’s what would happen.

She also discovered her magical acts would fade after time and only she knew what had happened. Neither Betsy nor Danny (or anyone else) remembered anything about the incident on the beach.

She could never wish for anything harmful, like drinking poison, nor anything that would leave a mark or get anyone into trouble with the authorities. And it never worked on anyone over 15 years old.

One day, just as school let out for the day, Danny again pulled one of her pigtails. She wished his pants would down and he fell in front of a bunch of girls in his class.

Danny’s pants suddenly fell down his legs, and he tripped over them only to land in front of the girls’ choir. He was embarrassed at showing off his underwear. Without saying a word, he got up, fixed his pants, and ran home. The girls were still laughing about it when Pearl walked by.

Two days later, no one (except Pearl) remembered what had happened. It was like it never happened, even though Pearl caused it.

She decided she needed to try several experiments. She wished another boy in her class would take off all his clothes and give them to Betsy for safekeeping.

While they were all taking a test in class, Billy silently stood up and took off his clothes. He bundled them up and went to Betsy’s desk, asking her to hold on to them. Betsy agreed and Billy went back to taking his test.

When the bell rang to end the period, Billy suddenly realized he was naked and Betsy realized she had his clothes. The rest of the class seemed to notice the naked boy for the first time and everybody reacted in some way.

Billy looked completely horrified by the whole situation and tried to hide himself. Betsy got up and walked over to give him his clothes back. She also got a good look at his exposed penis and smiled.

Again, two days later, and it was like it never happened.

Her next experiment involved the eighth-grade cheerleading team. Pearl never liked the girls, who were 12 and 13, since they acted like they owned the school.

Pearl wished they all would practice completely naked for a day. Pearl walked over to their part of the open field after school the next day and saw that they were indeed all naked and going through their routines. They drew a large crowd of students, all of whom were enjoying themselves.

The cheerleaders did not seem to notice their nudity until practice was over. Cindy, the head cheerleader, gathered them all together for a final cheer and went it was completed, they suddenly realized they were naked. They all screamed and ran into the locker room.

It was the talk of the school the next day and the cheerleaders were clearly embarrassed having been exposed like that. But then the following day, everything was back to normal and no one seemed to think anything had happened.

Pearl was amazed at her powers and even more amazed that everybody forgot anything that ever happened. She couldn’t talk to anybody about it, not even her parents.

One day, she found a small, 8-inch-long box, gift wrapped on her pillow. It was a wand and a note was attached.

“This is a special wand that can only be used on your birthday and whatever you wish it to do to others; there will be a consequence for you. Use carefully.” It was signed Lady Raven.

Pearl didn’t know anyone by that name and when she showed her parents, they did not see the wand. They thought she was using her imagination again. The same with Betsy, who thought Pearl was joking around.

Pearl’s birthday was a week away and she began making plans for it. If she was the person to see the wand, then only she could see what she wished for. So, Pearl planned for a naked birthday party, with only her being dressed. She would invite her entire third-grade class and they would all show up naked and play games together, even dance together.

Pearl loved the party, watching all these boys and girls going completely naked and not caring. There was the usual foolishness; cake found its way onto people’s faces and other parts of their bodies. And Pearl just danced by herself, weaving her way through all the naked bodies. She waved her wand as though she was a conductor leading her personal orchestra.

She vowed to continue the birthday tradition for the rest of her life. Since she was holding the wand on her birthday, her wish was granted.

Years later, the legend of Pearl grew in the kingdom of Callowstan. On her birthday every year, she threw a party at which she would attend completely naked and act like it was normal. She was always the only one naked and she danced the entire time. No one ever thought to tell her different.
