Harstons Chapter 13

It was halfway through the new term and a cold winters day enveloped the school. Inside the warm staff room Mr. Ben Jennings a new teacher of drama was mulling over an idea. He had prior to this new role been teaching down in the local town at the state school, the Grange Academy for boys, an 11-16 senior school which served the town along with the girls school and a mixed comprehensive. He was thinking it would be good to do something to build relations between The Grange and Harstons given his recent work and especially as the latter was always keen to be involved in the local community.

Being a drama teacher his thoughts turned to the idea of a joint production and how that could bring the two school communities together. As his thoughts developed he shared his idea with the Headmaster who while interested suggested that perhaps they try something less ambitious to begin with. The Head was a keen sportsman suggested a sports event could be easier to set up and then they could go from there.

The Head also suggested that rather linking with the whole school maybe it could be established with one particular House. As Mr. Jennings was the Assistant Housemaster at Barnards then that would be an obvious place to start. Mr. Taylor liked the idea and was keen to get his newest staff member involved in the House.

Later that week Mr. Taylor invited the Captain of Sport, David Roberts and Andy Johnson, the swim team Captain to join him and Mr. Jennings in his office. The discussion led to a proposal - approach The Grange to hold a multi sports event - football, swimming and a cross country run. The play idea , a historical play about Cowboys and Indians, would be developed and the prize for the winning team would be to choose if they did the cowboy or Indian roles!

With 3 sports events, there would be a winner. The event would be held on a Sunday a quiet day for the boarding house where there was usually no formally organised activities. The run would have 6 in a team, two from each year group (3rd to 5th) points would be awarded from 10 to1. The team with the highest combined score would win that event. The football would be a six aside game with penalty shootout if still a draw at the end. Swimming would be the final event, with races for all years, points scored for the top 3 places in each race.

The overall winners would be given the Grange Barnards Cup! Mr. Taylor and Mr. Jennings, through the latter’s close contacts arranged to meet the Head of The Grange to make the proposal. This was greeted with enthusiasm and Mr. Pete Ellison the PE lead at The Grange was fully on board. The plans were agreed and a date set. Grange and Barnards would each select 15 boys, 5 from each year group who would compete across the 3 events.

David Roberts called a meeting to discuss team selection. The 3 year prefects joined him and Andy Johnson to pick the best team. Harstons didn’t play football, it was a rugby school, but a lot of boys played kickabouts at weekends, so this could be their weak point. They already knew who their best runners and swimmers were. But could they find some good footballers to join them? A trial match was hastily arranged for the following weekend.

A notice was posted and the following Sunday morning a good number of boys turned up and Roberts was pleased to see it included quite a few of his swimmers and runners. The 6 a side team would need to have 2 from each year so they ran a number of year group games to spot the talent from each age group.

Some good players emerged thankfully, and one 5th year was a good footballer, but he had to be told to go easy a couple of times with his harsh tackles. Cameron Derbyshire was very competitive but sometimes rash. And so the 15 were selected and the Barnards Team was posted on the House noticeboard. The sixth form would run the tournament under the guidance of Mr. Ellison and Mr. Jennings

The tournament day:

The 15 boys from the Grange arrived at 10am excited for the sporting competition ahead. They were welcomed by Mr. Jennings who knew most of the boys and they were shown down to the Barnards House changing rooms where they met their opponents for the day. Soon the 12 boys for the cross country were ready. All the boys were similarly attired in white t shirts and shorts. They were given numbers to pin to their shirts.

Overnight it had been quite wet and as a result the course was fairly muddy as it took in the paths around the spacious grounds, through a wooded area, even at one point crossing a small brook. The boys were going to get muddy! The course was about 2.5 k in length so two laps were agreed giving about 5 k or 3 miles run.

The boys started off and as one group to cheers and clapping from boys from Barnards and a few supporters from the Grange they were off. As the first lap ended, it was clear there were two groups of runners separated by a small distance . What didn’t separate them though was the fact all 12 were no longer running in pristine white gear, all were mud spattered and one boy who had clearly fallen ever was completely muddied!

The second lap saw runners pushing themselves and a closer race developed between 3 leading boys two from Barnards and one from the Grange! A final sprint to the end saw the Grange boy come in second splitting the other 2 boys. The results were added up and Barnards was declared the winner of the cross country!

The Barnards boys led the Grange boys down to the changing rooms where there were big open showers. They were all chatting away and without care all immediately stripped off to shower away the mud. The Grange boys were somewhat awkward as taking showers at school rarely happened. Boys were shy even amongst their peers. They took off their muddy kit to reveal swimming shorts beneath and they headed to the showers wearing these shorts. The Harstons boys looked amused but said nothing.

Football

Each team had 2 form each year - for Barnards - Paul Simpson and Jonny Carter (3rds) Frankie Graham and David Potter (4ths) and Cam Derbyshire and Tony Miller (5ths) .The game started, and it was quite rough from the start. The boys from the Grange were determined to get a win to even things up and weren't afraid to play hard in order to do so.

The first incident came soon after the start. 2 Grange boys tackled Simpson together. The boys fell into a plie on the ground and Simpson felt a pain in his balls as an elbow connected with them and he yelled out in pain to the referee Eddington shouting he’d been hit in the balls . As there had been no foul, play continued and the Grange team taking advantage of the extra player attacked swiftly and scored the opening goal.

Meanwhile Simpson was still writhing in pain on the ground. Miss Jessica Bailey the assistant matron was providing the first aid and referee Eddington signalled for her to come on to the pitch to check the poor 13 year old boy.

The payers from both sides gathered round as the poor boy had his shorts pulled down by the assistant matron in order to get better access . The Grange boys were astonished to see the 19 year assistant matron treating the boy so nonchalantly , exposing his little willy and balls in front of everyone. This provoked some laughter adding embarrassment to the pain for poor Simpson. The magic sponge did the trick however and soon he was ready to get up and play on it, but not before his little willy had got erect from the application of the magic sponge much to everyone’s amusement except his. Poor Simpson was red in the face as one of the Grange younger lads giggled “nice boner!” Jessica smiled broadly as she helped the boy stand up and then pulled up his shorts to cover his little erection.

“Come and see me after the game Simpson so I can check that everything is still alright.”

The game continued. It was clear that the Grange boys were better at football and the hosts had to work hard to keep up. Soon it was two nil and relief came in the form of the half time whistle.

The Harstons boys were getting desperate to score and the oldest ones decided to fight fire with fire and started to play rough. Derbyshire and Miller especially used their physical size to press hard and committed a number of fouls in the process much to Eddington’s displeasure. Despite giving away a number of free kicks and having a talking to, Derbyshire barged one of the smaller Grange boys at a corner kick causing him to fall badly on to the turf.

Eddington immediately blew his whistle and awarded the clear penalty. He called Derbyshire over and produced the first yellow card of the game giving him a stern lecture about playing fairly.

“Look Derbyshire this is simply not good enough. This isn’t rugby and you’ve got to play fairly. One more foul like that and you will be off. Understand. And if I have to send you off there will be consequences. Now get your act together.”

Derbyshire who wasn’t known for his compliance for prefectorial orders, merely shrugged his shoulders replying, “ I’m trying to win the game”.

The penalty was quickly taken, and the goal scored and so The Grange was now 3 nil up with only 10 minutes to go. The win was clearly going to be for them. With 5 minutes left Barnards managed to break free for the first time that half and as they attacked the opposition goal the prospect of actually scoring looked a possibility. Potter ran down the wing, with Derbyshire and Carter running into the box, he put a good cross in. It sailed over Carter and the defenders heads to land near Derbyshire and the goalkeeper. Derbyshire pushed the goalie to the ground, poked the ball into the back of the net to score, and running away wildly to whoop and celebrate and so did not immediately hear the loud blast of the whistle as Eddington gave a free kick to the Gange and disallowed the goal.

Eddington blew again and all went quiet amongst the players and watching boys as he shouted at Derbyshire to come over. He produced the yellow card and then reached into his back pocket drew out the red and sent the boy off!

Derbyshire was not happy, “what the fuck is that for,” he shouted, “it was fair fight for the ball.”

“I’m not arguing Derbyshire, now get off and wait for me in the changing room. I will deal with you after the game.”

The boy trudged off angrily, consoled by a few of his mates though most thought he was a roughhouse idiot. The game continued and shortly after Eddington blew the whistle full time declaring the Grange the winner 3-0. The score for the Cup was now 1-1, all would be decided by the Swimming which would start after everyone had some mid-morning snacks and drinks in the hall.

Eddington was furious with Derbyshire and spoke with Phil Davis, David Roberts and Mr. Jennings. Mr. Jennings was embarrassed by the behaviour and apologised to his former colleague, “ I’m really sorry about that, not the kind of behaviour we expect here at Harstons. I’m sure the prefects will deal with boy rest assured. We leave them to deal with house discipline and they have corporal punishment powers”. Mr. Ellison nodded approvingly.

Davis, “yes we will indeed deal with Derbyshire Sir. I think we need to set an example.” He outlined his decision. Along with Roberts and Eddington, they made their way to the changing rooms along with the players.

The prefects entered the changing room where the 11 boys were chatting whilst a sulking Derbyshire sat down on one of the benches. There was quiet as the 3 prefects entered.

Davis spoke, “Right lads. A good game there. Well down you Grange lads you really beat us well. Maybe next time we can play our game , rugby! I am sorry about the bad behaviour by Derbyshire though, his foul play was not the way we do things here at Harstons School. I don’t know how things work at The Grange but here the prefects are in charge of discipline and Derbyshire is going to be punished.”

“Derbyshire stand up and came over here” he ordered. There was total silence as the boys looked on and The Grange lads exchanged glances, with that quizzical look, “wonder what’s going to happen” This could be interesting!

“You’ve let the school and Barnards House down and your violent behavior on the pitch was simply unacceptable. You have a choice I can report you to Mr. Taylor or we deal with you now.”

There was no way Derbyshire wanted to end up in the Housemaster’s study because as every Barnards boy knew that would result in a painful caning especially given his record.

“You can deal with me Davis” he replied.

“ A wise decision Derbyshire.”

Davis nodded to Roberts and Eddington who moved a small old pommel horse into the centre of the changing room. Derbyshire stepped forward and bent over the horse. Davis had by now an old gym plimsoll in his hand.

The Grange lads looked astonished. “Are you really going to slipper him then?” asked Freddy Giles their goalkeeper incredulously.

“Do you think he deserves it?” asked Davis to the 16 year old boy.

The boy rubbed his bare shoulder where it was still painful from where he had landed badly on it after being pushed to the ground by Derbyshire. “Yeah my shoulder really hurts and it’s going to be bruised ”.

Davis looked closely, nodded, “ yes I can see that. I am sorry it happened. But I don’t think I can slipper Derbyshire like that even though he does deserve it. Stand up Derbyshire.”

The Grange boys then thought that it had just been a joke that he would be slippered and began to mumble amongst themselves.

“Quiet. “ said Davis in a stern voice. “I can’t slipper Derbyshire like that because he is over dressed. Here at Banards boys are often slippered bare especially when they have behaved really badly or as in this case let the house down. Strip off Derbyshire and then get yourself back over that horse.”

14 pairs of eyes watched as the boy took off his shirt and shorts to stand there naked in front of them. They noticed how well developed he was for 15 year old boy. His penis was almost 4 inches long and quite thick and his good sized testicles hung quite low. They were surprised that he didn't appear to have any pubic hair but as at least one of the boys was staring at his groin, he could see faint signs of stubble, suggesting that he had shaved his pubic hair.

“Give your shorts to the Captain to look after whilst you are punished.”

Derbyshire now looking thoroughly ashamed and embarrassed walked over and presented his shorts to Dave Sharpe the Grange captain who looked amused by the spectacle of the naked boy his own age. He then returned to the horse and bent over it, legs wide apart.

There was a hushed expectation in the room as Davis stepped forward and administered in rapid succession four hard whacks on his bottom. The noise of the crack of each one caused some of the boys to wince though that didn’t stop them enjoying the show!

“Don’t move” ordered Davis after the fourth one. He turned to Freddy Giles. “I think in the circumstances it would only be right to offer you the chance to even the score so to speak. If you are happy to do so, please give him his final two whacks.”

Freddy was astonished by the request but looking over at his best friend and Captain who nodded ever so slightly, he knew it would be churlish to refuse and anyway he was quite excited by it. He hoped it he would do it justice.

“Thank you yes on behalf of my team I will. We enjoyed the game, and the rest of you guys were great.”

He took the plimsoll and stepped forward, tapping the bottom and then swung back and delivered a resounding hard whack on the bottom which elicited a grunting of pain from Derbyshire who up until this point had taken his punishment stoically in silence. This is fun thought Freddy.

He swung his arm back and down came number two just as hard which on the back of the other five now got the satisfying sound of a yelp from the bare red bottomed boy. He was allowed to stand up and immediately started to vigorously rub his buttocks, giving the assembled boys a display of his penis flopping up and down as he rubbed.

Whilst being beaten Derbyshire had reflected and thought it wise not to aggravate the situation any further, so after giving his bottom a good rub he held out his hand to Giles and apologised. The boys shook hands. Davis nodded approvingly.

“Right lads. Show over. Take a shower and then come up to the hall for food and drink.” He turned to Dave Sharpe and Freddy Giles, “ and thank you for your cooperation and participation in this matter which hopefully be the last display of unsportsmanlike behavior today.

The prefects left the 12 boys and the hosts of course immediately stripped off and soon were naked. A couple of the Grange football team had been in the cross country team so were not shocked but the other 4 were. This was of course presented a dilemma for each boy .

The two eldest Freddy Giles and Dave Sharpe were sitting next to each other and Freddy raised his eyebrows at his mate. Dave leant over and said “ I will, if you will” laughing. “You’re on” said Freddy much to Dave’s surprise! Freddy stood up and pulled down his shorts to stand there naked. He was a tall boy and was equally well endowed, everything in proportion. His willy was long but thin a bit like Freddy and measured a good 5 inches soft.

One of the 13 year olds on his team, nudged his fellow 3rd year saying, “wow Freddy is huge”! Freddy laughed and said “thanks Bobby”.

He grabbed his towel and turned to Dave, “what’s keeping you mate “ as he headed into the showers to join the other boys. Dave sighed, removed his kit and looked down at his average sized willy, nestled amongst the pubic hair, shrugged his shoulders and headed into the mass of the naked boys along with the 4 younger Grange boys still wearing their swim shorts.
