Matchmakers (Les Marieurs)

Author's note. This story is inspired by the story ‘Dreams of Stardom’ by Parrafan [Publ. Dec 2006 (Nifty); Jan 2017 (PZA)]. Please read that story for the production of the movie: writing, casting (couch), getting boy actors (and their mothers!) to agree to nudity. And unfortunately having the boys’ subplot removed.

Boys 9 to 12 years wanted for feature-length production, approx 15 weeks duration. Prefer slim build, unbroken voices; acting experience not essential. Must be open-minded and flexible in outlook; some incidental nudity may be required. Several principal roles available. Apply in writing to Don Howerd, Ganymede Productions. Include color headshots and full body (bathing suit), brief resume, no portfolios returned.

Les Marieurs, the Hollywood movie, was not a big success. It played in theatres for a short time in 2006, and then was forgotten. If you were one of the few to see it, the cliché of a plot you saw was something like this:

Southern California. Dad, Don, happy marriage, one beloved son Chayse, loses wife tragically, boo hoo, so sad, resorts to straight porn for understandable relief.

Four years later, when the movie begins, Chayse is 12. He finds his father’s porn stash; from that realizes that his dad needs a new wife.

Sara (single mom) moves into the house next door with son Taran (age 13 but looks younger) and small dog Molly. The two families meet. Chayse and Taran become friends. Chayse remembers his plan to find a wife for Don, so the two boys set out to match their parents. They engineer a series of clever ruses: Taran makes his Mom’s car unserviceable, so she has to ask the man next door for help. Taren smuggles a frightening animal into the house to scare his Mom, who will obviously need Don to rescue her from its clutches. And so on.

The two families spend more and more time together. Closing scene: Don and Sara hold hands and look through the sliding glass door into Sara’s backyard where the two boys (in ‘board shorts’, swim costumes almost knee length) play happily together in the swimming pool. Sara: “They look just like brothers together.” Don: “Is that how brothers behave?” Pause. Don: “Shall we make them brothers?” Sara: “What do you mean?” Don: “Will you marry me?” They kiss. Music swells. The boys in the backyard look in at them and smile.

Don Howerd, the producer/director, was not devastated by the low income from the movie. It was done on a very low budget, after all. In fact, his real reason for making the movie was to obtain wild casting-couch sex with aspiring boy actors. (And of course Hi Def filming of handsome young boys frolicking naked.) It was not a surprise to him that the ‘gay’ subplot had to be deleted, and the movie as released has no naked boys.

A few years later, somehow a bootleg DVD of the movie appeared in Brazil. This is a report on the ‘Extras’ contained there: Deleted Scenes and Gag Reel.

DELETED SCENES

[Chayse pervs on Taran] The first time Chayse sees Taran: Wearing a skimpy blue speedo, Taran plays in his backyard pool with his dog. Chayse looks out his second-floor bedroom window from next door, watching. A montage of Taran playing in the pool and Chayse watching, showing many expressions: joy, hunger, yearning, sadness.

[Rubber raft, version 1] Afterward, Taran floats on a rubber raft: on his back, eyes closed, hands behind his head, knees bent, feet hanging down in the water. Alternating shots: some of Chayse looking out his window, hungrily; some of Taran floating there with his eyes closed. Chayse’s shots gradually move in to a close-up of his face. Taran’s shots gradually move in to a close-up of his crotch (which is the object of Chayse’s gaze). The bulging wet speedo helps us (and Chayse) guess about the genitals inside.

[Rubber raft, version 2] Afterward, Taran floats on a rubber raft: on his back, eyes closed, knees bent, feet hanging down in the water. One hand behind his head. The other hand massages the crotch of his speedo. Alternating shots ...

[Chayse pervs more on Taran] Various scenes: The camera notices that Chayse often looks at Taran: his full lips, his shaggy blond hair, his well-defined biceps, his shapely butt. Later, Taran walks his dog, and the camera notices Chayse hungrily watching Taran from his front window. Taran hanging from a tree-branch upside-down; his T-shirt scrunched by his chin; the camera notices that Chayse is gazing at Taran's naked abs, then at Taran's large pink nipples.

[Nude pool play] Taran and Chayse hurriedly strip out of their clothes and jump into the pool—naked, laughing. Taran is very fit; but Chayse—only now that we see his bare butt can we tell that Chayse is a bit chubby. Montage of the boys playing together. First: only a few glimpses of bare butts. Then: Taran climbs out on the far side of the pool, and turns to jump in. Because of lighting, we see him only in silhouette and cannot make out his dick. Then: Chayse does the same thing, but now the camera angle is different: we see the silhouette of his dick, sticking out at 45 degrees. Then: the two boys stand beside each other preparing to jump, now the full-body shot shows both dicks fully visible. (Taran’s is pinkish, Chayse’s is brownish! Both dicks are large enough to be interesting, but still childish in appearance.) The boys hold hands and jump in together. Several more shots of jumps into the pool: some even with slow-motion close-ups of their dicks vigorously waving around.

[The boys kiss] The boys stand naked on the near side of the pool facing us. Full-body camera shot. Their bodies are wet. Their dicks and balls are clearly seen. They look into each other’s eyes. Other camera shots show their bodies from all angles. The boys are now facing each other. Full-body shot lets us see both dicks in the space between them. Chayse: “Can I kiss you?” Taran: “OK.” They slowly come together. Camera zooms in close on their faces. They kiss. Long and deep. Cut to full-body camera shot. Kissing sounds.

[Erection] Camera zooms in on their crotches. Chayse’s dick is rising. We watch it gradually achieve erection, throbbing, a bit above the horizontal. Kissing sounds continue.

[Fondling] Camera on their crotches. Taran’s fingers touch Chayse’s erection. Camera on their faces. Chayse breaks of the kiss and gasps. Taran: “My uncle told me that boys kiss a whole lot better when their peckers are being played with.” Cut to crotch level, Taran’s hand fondles Chayse’s dick. Chayse: “Let’s find out.” Kissing sounds resume. Full-body camera shot. While kissing continues, Chayse begins to fondle Taran’s dick in return, it is soon erect as well. Romantic music. An excessive number of close-ups: the boys’ faces, kissing deeply, interspersed with the two erections being vigorously fondled.

[Like brothers] Don and Sara hold hands and look through the sliding glass door into Sara’s backyard where the two naked boys kiss and fondle each other. Sara: “They look just like brothers together.” Don: “Is that how brothers behave?” Pause. Don: “Shall we make them brothers?” Sara: “What do you mean?” Don: “Will you marry me?” Don and Sara kiss. Music swells. The boys in the backyard look in at them and smile, then return to their own kissing.

GAG REEL

[Pool play] Chayse and Taran (in the board shorts) play in the backyard pool. Chayse stands at the edge of the pool ready to jump in. Taran, from behind, yanks Chayse’s shorts down to his knees. We see Chayse’s dick. Chase has an astonished expression. Laughter (both the two boys and the unseen crew). CUT!

[Rubber raft, version 3] Taran, wearing the speedo, floats on the rubber raft: on his back, eyes closed, knees bent, feet hanging down in the water. One hand behind his head. When Taran tries to insert his other hand inside the speedo, instead the speedo creeps down, and his dick springs out into the sunlight. CUT! Laughter.

A few more takes of this scene, all spoiled by laughter (and dicks popping up).

[The boys kiss.] Chayse: “Can I kiss you?” Taran: “OK.” They slowly come together and touch lips. “CUT! Boys, remember we talked about tongues? Let’s do it again. WATER!” Two crew persons dump buckets of water over their heads. “ACTION!” Chayse: “Can I kiss you?” Taran: “OK.” They slowly come together, tongues coming out, tongues touch. Boys break into laughter. CUT!

A few more takes of this scene break up with laughter.

[Erection] Camera zooms in on their crotches. Chayse’s dick is not rising. “CUT! Where’s my stiffy?” Chayse: “I’m trying, Mr Howerd, but this is the fifth take!” Taran: “How about if I give you more tongue action up here? Maybe that will help.”

[Fondling] Camera on their crotches. Taran’s hand gropes for Chayse’s erection but misses. CUT! Laughter.

[Like brothers] Don and Sara kiss. Music swells. The boys in the backyard look in at them and smile, then return to their own kissing. Don: “Let’s try the fondling.” CUT! Laughter
