Story 5 - School Demonstration
My name’s Finnigan McGregor and my best friend is Sean O’Connell. We’re
both fifteen year olds, finishing our 3rd Form year at The High School
in Dublin, Ireland. It’s been a marvelously wonderful year. We’re both
looking forward to our transition year before going into the Senior
Cycle. It’s probably not very normal for boys my age to enjoy school,
but I love learning and experiencing new things. My school steps out of
the traditional education realm ever so often and brings in specialists
studying new concepts and ground breaking ideas in all ranges of
fields. Today at assembly, we’re having one such person speak to us
about the ground breaking research and experimentation into the field
of addictions and how to break them.
Sean and I sit
next to each other in the Assembly Hall as usual. I find the talk very
interesting, whereas Sean finds it boring as heck. The speaker tells us
all about how through hypnosis or hypno-therapy, a specialist can enter
suggestions deep into the sub-conscious to help people with wide ranges
of addictions. At the end of his speech, he asks for pre-selected
volunteers to help with a demonstration. There are a dozen kid’s names
read off, including Sean and myself. I look over at Sean and he shrugs
as do I. Neither of us volunteered for anything.
Speaker: “As our volunteers approach, I wish to make it very clear,
that none of these students knew they were volunteering. Your school
sent out parental permission slips to all of your parents. I selected
these twelve from those slips, after reading what their parents wrote
in the comments section of the forms.”
We all stand
in a line across the front of the stage. There are six boys and six
girls. The speaker walks up and down the line talking to us for a few
minutes and then he has us step back, calling each of us up separately.
He has kids singing songs backwards. He has kids dancing like a
chicken. He has each student do some silly thing and then sends them
back to their seats in the Assembly Hall. Sean and I are the only two
left standing on stage.
Speaker: “As you just
witnessed, hypnosis can be used to get people to do things they
wouldn’t ordinarily do. The important thing to recognize is, that each
student performed their silly task. Now they could have done it without
hypnosis but they probably wouldn’t have, because they would have felt
embarrassed doing it in front of their peers. We all understand how
peer pressure modifies what we will and won’t do. Hypnosis shielded
them from the effects of peer pressure and the humiliation of dancing
like a chicken in front of their classmates. Understand, while they
were under hypnosis, they knew what they were doing. They just couldn’t
stop themselves from doing it. Now that they are released from the
hypnosis, they’re all sitting among you once again, embarrassed to
death by their performances.”
I look at Sean and he
looks right back at me, and we both shrug our shoulders, because we
have no idea what this guy is about to make us do.
Speaker: “Sean and Finnigan, right?”
Me: “It’s Finn, Sir.”
Speaker: “I stand corrected. Sean and Finn.”
Both of us: “Yes, Sir.”
Speaker: “I understand that the two of you are best pals, right?”
Both of us: “Yes, Sir.”
Speaker: “That’s why I saved the two of you for the last demonstration.
Please. If you will. Write down on these cards the color you absolutely
hate. The color you wouldn’t be caught dead in if your life depended on
it.”
I immediately write ‘green.’ I hate green with a
passion. Sean, wastes no time writing down ‘pink.’ I should have
thought about pink myself. But green is just so nasty. I so hate it
when they serve pea soup for lunch.
Speaker: “Okay boys, hold up your cards.”
Speaker: “Everyone together. What color does Sean hate?”
Everyone: “PINK!”
Speaker: “What color does Finn hate?”
Everyone: “GREEN!”
Speaker: “It’s my understanding that neither of you would be caught dead wearing your hated color. Am I right?”
Both of us: “Yes, Sir.”
The speaker leans over and whispers something in our ear, but neither one of us can remember what he said.
Speaker: “Now. Sean and Finn were hypnotized at the same time as the
others, but just now I gave each of them a suggestion. They have no
idea what the suggestion I gave them is. Matter of fact, until I just
told you, they had no idea they even have a hypnotic suggestion in
their sub-conscious.”
Again Sean and I shrug our shoulders, because we don’t feel anything different.
Speaker: “Now Sean and Finn will demonstrate how hypno-therapy can work
to modify addictions. Boys, if you will, walk over to the other side of
the stage and pick out your very favorite color blazer, from the wide
assortment I brought with me today. You will also find a pair of
matching trousers with each blazer. I want you to put on a blazer and
matching trousers of your favorite color. Now put them on over your own
clothes, no one wants to be seeing you in your underpants.”
The auditorium bursts out laughing at the speakers little joke.
Speaker: “When you have put on your favorite color clothing, then walk back over to me.”
Now my favorite color is red. I love everything red. I’m actually
wearing a red shirt with our school logo on it. On the rack in front of
me are three red blazers with matching trousers, that would look
magnificent on me. But my hand goes for this awful puke green one
instead. I can’t help myself. I put this nasty color blazer on along
with the trousers and walk back to the Speaker. I look at Sean and he’s
wearing a pink outfit. I know he didn’t put that on willingly. Sean has
never liked pink.
Speaker: “Boys. I guess you didn’t
hear me correctly. I asked you to pick out and wear your favorite
color. Why are you wearing the color you hate?”
Sean: “I don’t know. But I so want this sissy thing off me.”
Speaker: “But you picked it from all those blazers as your favorite color?”
Sean: “I know. I was going for the Royal Blue one and my hand picked out this thing.”
Speaker: “How about you Finn?”
Me: “I was going for the bright red one, but like Sean, my hand got this nasty thing.”
Speaker: “This is how hypno-therapy can work on addictions. It provides
suggestions that your sub-conscious will interpret and do, even against
what your brain is telling it to do. So if you smoke? I so hope none of
you have that nasty addiction, but if you should get it at some point
in your life, a simple hypnotic suggestion can keep your hands from
picking up a cigarette.”
The Speaker leans over and
whispers into Sean’s ear and he falls asleep right there on the stage.
Then he whispers in my ear and I fall sound asleep. I can’t hear or see
anything, even though I know I’m still in school and standing on the
stage. It’s the weirdest feeling ever.
Speaker: “Now,
let’s demonstrate how we can change a person’s behavior with hypnosis
without them even knowing it has been changed. During the blazer
demonstration both boys knew they were picking up and putting on the
wrong blazer, but they couldn’t help it. Now let’s do a demonstration
in which they have no idea their behavior has been modified.”
Speaker: “To do this, I put both boys to sleep. They can’t hear or see
what we are doing right now. What I need from you is a suggestion as to
what addiction, both boys have, that I can change and it be very
obvious to everyone here, that they are no longer addicted to it. Right
here. Right now. So take a good look at the boys and tell me what you
see in front of you?”
Suggestions: “They are both boys. They both get good grades. They both like school. They are wearing clothes they hate.”
Speaker: “Those are all nice things, but none of them can be labeled as
an addiction. Although one of those suggestions is really close to
something we could use for a demonstation.”
Silence from everyone.
Speaker: “Oh come on now. I know you’re all very perceptive students.
There’s something right in front of you, that both boys are doing right
now. It’s something that we normally don’t think of as an addiction.
But if you really think about it, we all do it even though technically
we don’t have to do it. We do it regularly every day, without thinking.
So, it’s actually an addiction.”
Young boy down
front: “Clothes? They’re wearing clothes. We’re wearing clothes. It has
to be clothes. We don’t have to wear clothes but we do, because we
don’t want to be naked.”
Speaker: “Very good young
man. You are very good at riddles I bet. Yes. They are wearing clothes,
just like all of us. But why do we wear clothes? Because we have been
programed that we have to wear clothes. That programming is an
addiction. Now, I’m sure, looking around at you, that you agree with
me, it’s a good addiction to have.”
There is
agreement from everyone, that wearing clothes is a good thing. So no
one understands what this is all leading to. The speaker has them
totally confused as to what he is doing.
Speaker:
“So, what would happen if I took that addiction away from Sean and
Finn, without them knowing they no longer have their addiction any
longer?”
There is a gasp from all the students as it dawns on them just what the speaker is hinting at.
Speaker: “Before we go any further with this demonstration, you all
need to know a few things and agree to some things. First of all, you
need to know that on their permission slips both Sean’s and Finn’s
parents suggested what is about to happen to them, even though neither
Sean or Finn has any idea. Oh. Also think about the fact that this
could be you up here on stage had your parents made this suggestion.”
Speaker: “Second. Sean and Finn will be losing their addiction so they
will feel absolutely normal. When they look at you, they will see you
as having an addiction, not them. So, no teasing or bullying, because
it won’t be understood by either of them and if I hear about it, I
might make a suggestion for you to lose your addiction. Get me?”
Students: “Yes. Yes. Ya. Okay. We got it.”
Speaker: “Okay then. Let’s see how this demonstration is going to work.
I’ve already put the suggestion in their sub-conscious, so all we need
to do now is wake them up and see what happens.”
Speaker: “Sean. Finn. Have you went to sleep on me. Wake up boys. We’re trying to do a demonstration here.”
I came out of the void I was just in, and I look over at Sean and he’s
coming out of his as well. The bad thing is, that I’m still wearing the
terrible green outfit.
Speaker: “I thought you boys hated those blazers?”
Me and Sean say together: “We do.”
Speaker: “Then go on back to the racks and take off everything you
don’t want to wear and then come back here so we can finish the
demonstration.”
As we walk over to the clothes rack I talk to Sean.
Me: “Sean. Can you believe he made us put these awful things on?”
Sean: “No! I just can’t wait to get out of them.”
Me: “Me to.”
When I get to the rack I pull the green blazer and green trousers off
and hang them up. Then I kick my sneakers off and pull my socks off and
stick them in the shoes. I tie the strings together and hang my
sneakers on an empty hanger. It feels so good being barefoot again. I
can’t believe he made me put these things on. I quickly pull my tee
shirt up over my head and off. I hang it on the same hanger with my
sneakers. I look over at Sean and he’s keeping up with me. I know he
hates these things as much as me. I look over my shoulder and all the
kids in the auditorium are standing up watching us. I know they can’t
believe what this speaker did to us either. Who makes kids wear all
this junk?
At least he didn’t make me put a belt on.
Like he did Sean. I can simply unsnap and unzip my jeans and pull them
down and step out of them. I use the same hanger I put my tee shirt on
to drape my jeans under them. Then I put my thumbs in my briefs and
push them down and off. I take the hanger and put the hook thing
through the leg opening and then hang the hanger up. Sean is still
pulling his briefs off so I wait for him, before we walk back to the
front of the stage. It feels so good to be out of those nasty clothes.
Who in their right mind would ever wear such things.
As we approach the speaker all the kids start applauding us so Sean and me bow to them and in a loud voice I thank them.
Me: “Thanks guys. Can you believe he made us wear all of that? I feel so much better now.”
Speaker: “How about you Sean?”
Sean: “Oh this is so much better. That other stuff was so confining. I
feel a thousand times better letting everything hang free.”
Laughter erupts all through the auditorium.
Sean: “See they all agree too.”
Speaker: “What do you boys think when you look out at your classmates and they are wearing clothing?”
Me: “It’s not their fault really. Someone introuduced them to clothes
and they got addicted. They really need help, not criticism, so they
can get over their addiction.”
Speaker: “How about you Sean?”
Sean: “I agree with Finn. They would all feel better and have more fun
in life if they could get rid of their addiction and throw those
clothes away and not ever wear them again.”
Speaker: “Can you all now see, how hypnosis can be used to help people get victory over their addictions?”
Student: “Yes.”
Speaker: “Well, that is all I have. I think this demonstrations went
well. I hope you all thank Sean and Finn here for their participation
in this demonstration. Go ahead boys. Take a bow and get the applause
that you both deserve.”
Sean and me bow again and
then raise our hands in the air and parade back and forth on the stage
totally naked in front of our entire school. We can’t bel;ieve how much
everyone likes us. They are cheering and applauding and making all
kinds of a fuss over us. We’re not the most popular boys in the school.
We can’t belive our luck. It’s great that our parents volunteered us
for this demonstration because we would have never volunteered on our
own.
Speaker: “ There’s just
one last thing to do before I leave and you all return to classes. Well
boys. You can return to your seats now. Thank you and all the other
volunteers for your participation in our little demonstration.”
Sean and Me walk down the steps of the stage.
Speaker: “Oh. I almost forgot. Finn. I remove all suggestions I gave you. Sean. I remove all suggestions I gave you.”
All of a sudden, I feel so exposed for some reason.
Sean: “Finn. You’re naked!”
Me: “Sean. You’re naked too!”
We both quickly cover our dicks with our hands and stare out at our
peers and they hoot and holler at us. We’re naked. How did we get
naked? What did this gut do to us? What did we do to ourselves? Oh! My!
I so hope we didn’t do anything with each other while naked. Surely he
didn’t make us do that in front of everyone.
I know Sean is thinking the same things I am just by the way he is looking around and at me.
Me: “Clothes! Where’s my clothes?”
Sean: “Rack. They gotta be on that rack.”
Me: “Ya. We must have taken everything off instead of just those awful outfits.”
Sean: “Ya. That’s gotta be it.”
We both walk backward up onto the stage and over to the rack. As soon
as we get there we go behind the rack so we are out of sight. To find
out clothes we have to uncover our dicks, so we both feel so ver
exposed. We can’t find out clothes fast enough. We get redressed as
quickly as possible.
Me: “So how long do you think we were naked in front of everyone?”
Sean: “I don’t know. But it’s a fact now that everyone in school knows as much about us as we do ourselves.”
Me: “That’s for sure. I can’t belive I was naked at school. It’s like
that terrible dream I get sometimes, when I have a wet dream.”
Sean: “Ya. It’s exactly like that dream.”
Speaker: “Boys. When you’re dressed come on back out here.”
I look at Sean and he looks at me. Neither of us, want to show our
faces back out there on that stage. But we really don’t have a choice.
So we walk back out to the front of the stage. Everyone in the
audditorium stand up and give us a round of applause.
Speaker: “I know you are bnoth quite embarrassed right now. But I want
you both to know, you performed the demonstration perfectly. Way past
my wildest expectations. All of your classmates learned more about
addictions because of you, than they would ever learn by just a
lecture. So you both need to be proud of what you did today and not
ashamed. Because you did nothing to be ashamed about. Yes, you were
naked, but that’s all. Nothing else happened.”
He
gives both of us a wink. I exhaled loudly and I hear Sean do the same.
We’re both releaved that we didn’t do anything nasty on stage. Yes. We
were both naked, but at least it was just simple nudity, and nothing we
would have to be ashamed of for the rest of our lives.
Speakers: “Thank You. Be proud of yourselves. You’re now the most popular boys in the school.”
We both return to our seats. The speaker concludes with his speech and
we go to our next class. Everyone is greeting me and high-fiving me.
Just by doing that little demonstration, I’ve become a celebrity in
school. I seem to be extra special to all the girls in school. I feel
so special. Even though the demonstrations was embarrassing as heck,
once I knew I was naked. I’m gld now that I did it. When I get home,
both mom and dad want to know how it went. That’s when I discover they
are the once that suggested the speaker do something with me, which
would lead to me bing naked. They tell me that I’ve been getting overly
modest since puberty and I needed a way to loosen up. Well, that sure
did it.
